Has anyone else been following the AMC series The Killing?
I had heard the build up to this series, based from a Danish TV series of the same name, but missed the first few episodes when it originally aired. A colleague of mine was raving about it and insisted I check it out. It’s a murder mystery, with 3 main points of interest: the detectives investigating the murder, the grieving parents, and the political realm that gets affected. Each episode is a day into the investigation, and the pacing is quite well done. Really dark and intense, with phenomenal acting by the cast. All of them are great, but one of the ones that really stands out to me is Michelle Forbes, who I know as Maryann from season 2 of True Blood. As Mitch Larson, the grieving mother, she is absolutely riveting to watch, as her character comes to terms with the death of her child. Shifting through the stages of grief, her with her on-screen husband, play this tragedy out with such realism.
Slight spoiler alert below as I discuss my theory on who the killer is!
Stop reading now if you haven’t seen the show 🙂
There’s 2 or 3 more episodes left of the season, and they’re not really leaning towards anyone with any certainty yet. For those that have been watching, my guess as to who the killer is has always been Mayor Adams from the beginning. With the mayoral race between him and Richmond, the fact that one of Richmond’s cars was used in the murder is suspect. Then with the scandal that Adams had had an affair, perhaps Rosie had known something or seen something and he had to get rid of her? The sister though, Terry, is hiding something. I knew it wasn’t going to be Bennet. It was WAY too early in the show to already pinpoint the killer… what if it was him? They’d know from episode 4? How boring would the rest of the 8 episodes be!
