The Night Circus, the debut novel by Erin Morgenstern, has been stirring up quite the buzz everywhere lately! I hadn’t known about this book until the last 3-4 weeks and suddenly I found myself desperately wanting to get my hands on it when it was released today.
Yesterday, I saw on Twitter that Random House Canada was hosting some launch festivities in Toronto and Vancouver the following morning at 8am so I made plans to head into work a little early so I had time to pop down to Yonge & Dundas Square to check it out. I got there a couple minutes after 8 and saw the red-scarved team take a group photo with the entertaining circus folk before – to my delight & surprise – they picked up stacks of books to hand out to people walking by! O.M.G.
I hung around for a couple more minutes, took some photos and met Becky (Columnist for Open Book Toronto) while waiting to see if I’d bump into A Cupcake and a Latte’s Wendy. Ended up having to leave before I would be late for work just as they were bringing out the popcorn… I couldn’t believe that some people were turning down the free book though! They’ll regret it once they realize it’s probably going to be one of the bigger books this Fall. 😉 (Some even touting it as perfect for those who are missing Harry Potter!)
So what’re you waiting for? I’m going to dive right into the book. Go out and get your copy in stores as of today!
