In My Mailbox 25

Another bookish week has come and gone! This week’s IMM might actually be the first time I’ve had more adult books than YA ones, now that I’m posting ’em here…

A bit of a frustrating one mid-week. I had participated in a book swap with Ruby’s Reads – and of the 3 books she sent, only 1 got delivered. The envelope had clearly been opened, badly taped back up and 2 of the books gone. I cannot believe someone would tamper with the mail (uh, crime!) and take books! (Not like it was money or jewelry.. why go to all that trouble for reading material…) Nonetheless, that was a bummer because I was excited to receive Descended by Blood and Possession … but alas, it’s lost somewhere in the US postal system… 😥

And there’s just over a week left to enter my 2011 accomplishments party & giveaway to win your choice of 2 books from my 2011 #50bookpledge read list! (2 international winners to be chosen)

The Street Sweeper by Elliot Perlman <– Received for read & review from Random House Canada. Sounds really interesting.. can’t wait to get to it!

Kiss Me Deadly: 13 Tales of Paranormal Love edited by Trisha Telep <– From Ruby’s Reads’ swap! The 1 out of 3 that made it past the book thieves! Tons of authors have stories in this anthology! Maggie Stiefvater, Becca Fitzpatrick, Rachel Vincent, Karen Mahoney, Diana Peterfreund, Daniel Waters, Carrie Ryan, Justine Musk, Daniel Marks, Sarah Rees Brennan, Michelle Rowen, Michelle Zink and Caitlin Kittredge!

CHIC PARIS by Gerald Poirot <– Leant to me by a colleague for my trip to Paris.. cute Moleskine-type guidebook of all the chic things to check out

ARTISTIK PARIS by Natasha Edwards <– Another book in the series, leant to me by my colleague.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green <– Signed copy, purchased last week after hearing about it ALL week and seeing it on everyone’s IMMs. Definitely piqued my interested! #mobmentality 😉

The Replacement Wife by Eileen Goudge <– For read and review from Open Road Media via Netgalley. Saw it featured in the NG newsletter and sounded really interesting.

The Whipping Club by Deborah Henry <– For read and review from AuthorBuzz/T.S. Poetry Press via Netgalley. Also saw featured in NG email and sounded really interesting.

I also received some AMAZING swag from Leanna Renee Hieber, author of Darker Still (which, you’ll remember, I absolutely loved!)

AND in that same envelope of goodies from Leanna, was also a smaller envelope (curiouser and curiouser…) of book swag from her fellow Apocalypsies 2012 Debut YA crew! (including signed bookmarks from Katherine Longshore, author of the upcoming Gilt, and Hilary Weisman Graham, author of Reunited!!)

My mom’s also been in Hong Kong for the last 2.5 months, and got back on Friday. She brought back the one souvenir that I really wanted… a Starbucks mug to add to my collection! 😎

What did you guys get this week? Leave your link and I’ll be sure to check it out!

  1. Awesome haul as always! I just finished The Fault in Our Stars! Really good:)

    jenn | my IMM

  2. YOUR MUGS ARE SO COOL! Awesome haul this week! sucks about the mail thing. the postal service sucks sometimes.

    Anna @ Literary Exploration

  3. Im growing to like short story anthologies. They always end on a high note!
I’m pretty sure if I come within 10 feet of TFiOA I’m going to cave and buy it. It’s everywhere!!
Also, I love the mugs! That is so unbelievably awesome they’re available in all those places lol

    Happy reading Michele :)

  4. The mugs are soo cool!! TFiOS looks awesome!! I cant wait to read Article 5 when it comes out!

  5. forloveandbooks says:

Holy cow! You had an awesome week :)

I hope you enjoy TFiOS! It was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

The Replacement Wife sounds really good too – I look forward to your review on that! Although, maybe I should look into it myself.

Come see what was In My Mailbox this week!

  6. Great books this week. That sucks horribly about your books being stolen in the mail. I had a similar situation, though my book could just be lost. :( I have heard such awesome stuff about Article 5 and The Fault in Our Stars. Love the coffee mugs!! Here’s my IMM

  7. Hurray! Awesome haul, Michele! Super jelly of your mugs!
I can’t believe I STILL haven’t read Fault in our Stars yet…I should probably get to reading that today =)

  8. Awesome swag! Gah…I can’t believe books were stolen. Not cool. It sucks that there is nothing you can do about it really either.

The Replacement Wife sounded interesting when I read the blurb on Netgalley. I can’t wait to see what you think about it.

Great haul, and yay for a new Starbucks mug! They are seriously awesome, and I can’t believe I didn’t even know about them until I saw yours.

  9. Oh my gosh, amazing haul and great swag. I’m very jealous of your Starbucks mug collection – they look so cool! :)

    Here’s my IMM!

  10. A lot of these books look great! I LOVE your Starbucks cups! Totally want them! LOL

  11. Clementine Bojangles says:

Bummer about the mail being tampered with–I’ve definitely had that happen to me and it’s such a disappointment.

I’m not the biggest John Green fan, but I’m definitely interested in The Fault in Our Stars. I’ll probably check it out.

  12. That’s terrible about the stolen books- how disappointing. I love your Starbucks mug collection – such great travel souvenirs! Great swag too.
Enjoy all your new reads. Hope you enjoy TFiOS!

  13. Great bunch of books. I can’t believe your package was opened and only one of three arrived – that’s really messed up. The Replacement Wife does look really good. And John Green’s book is everywhere. Can’t wait to see what you think!!!!

  14. Okay, now I feel really bad! But I can’t agree about the books not being jewelry. If I worked in the Postal Service, books would probably be the first thing I’d try to steal. Okay, was that too much info?
I’m now determined to see if I can’t track down copies of those books. Do you have a Kindle? I could buy you the ebook of Descended by Blood at least.

Also, where did you get your “Stop Censorship” banner/thing?

    • (Haha me too!! I’d totally prefer books over jewelry.. lol) and it’s totally not your fault at all!! I have the Kindle app or a Kobo!
Stop Censorship banner, was via WordPress.. one of the “settings” gave you the option to protest the SOPA bill.. and adds that banner up top!

  15. Love your Starbucks collection! 😀

    Happy Reading!

  16. I LOOOVE your mug collection!! I get snow globes from everywhere I go but I love how all your mug matches!! *starts looking into cooler things to collect* I hread nothing about great things about all of John Green’s books, enjoy:D
    Happy reading♥

    My IMM ((:

  20. Kiss Me Deadly looks really good! And that is some awesome swag :) Hope you have fun reading these books!

  21. The Replacement Wife looks really good. Enjoy all your new reads! I can’t believe your package was opened, not fair. Thanks for visiting, and happy reading!

  23. I hate that your mail got tampered with:( Still great IMM! I hope you enjoy all your reads:)

  24. Um wow, I had no idea that those Starbucks mugs were collectible. I only know of the New York one since I see it all the time. Very cool though.

And that’s so sweet that Leanna Renee Hieber sent you some cool swag! :)

  25. Every time I see The Fault in Our Stars I get that little bit more jealous! I’d never really heard of John Green before this came out and it was all over the blogs, but now I’m DESPERATE to read it!

Also, I love those Starbucks mugs. I had no idea they did such pretty ones, I thought they were just those plain white ones.

I’ve had Darker Still on my TBR for a few weeks now. I really must get to it – knowing that the author is a nice person always motivates me :)

  26. I’ve heard alot of great hings about The Fault in Our Stars and can’t wait to read it. Great haul!
