Stacking the Shelves 15

meme hosted by Tynga

HOW is it already August!? Well, it’s been quite the busy week… from reminiscing about 90′s boybands in last week’s Swoon Worthy Sundays to the recap of the July readalong for Daughter of Smoke & Bone, I (somehow) managed to churn out reviews for Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Alibi, and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry! And speaking of Harold, swing by my recap of the Chatelaine Book Club event for this book and you can hear/watch the author do a reading and have a chance to win a signed copy!

On a more serious note, I wanted to share the link to this story… my step-cousin was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer at 24 and her experience is absolutely frustrating, with doctors dismissing her initially because they thought she was fine or “too young” to be tested for that. Please take a moment to read it. It’s eye-opening and scary, and a big reminder to always get a second (or third) opinion – and always trust your own body! YOU know if something doesn’t feel right.

For Review

The Emperor of Paris by CS Richardson <– For read & review from the publisher. I featured it in a Waiting on Wednesday post back during my Paris Month and absolutely had to read it once it’s out! And with this on the inside cover, it’s like it was meant for me.. Paris and “lost”. :)

The Exceptionals by Erin Cashman <– For read & review from the author/publicist.

Purchased

The Parks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky <– Bought at Chapters. I had already read this about 9 years ago  but with the upcoming  movie, I felt it was necessary to pick it up and re-read again. LOVE that it’s come back around again!

The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse <– Bought at Indigo. “Lost meets Hunger Games”?? I’m sold just from that!

Where We Belong by Emily Giffin <– Bought at Indigo. I was VERY reluctant in buying this hardcover version because all my other books of hers are in trade paperback format. But I wanted to have this new book for her book signing at the end of August..

Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman <– Bought at Indigo bargain section! I had wanted to check this out a while back but I think it got archived on Netgalley before I got to it.. Looks really good!

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (Millennium Trilogy, #3) by Stieg Larsson <– Bought at Indigo. I already read this back in 2010, but I’ve been waiting for the mass market paperback (for FOREVER!) to come out to complete my collection! Although, this 3rd book STILL doesn’t match the other two anyway! ARGH.

WHY U NO MATCH!? :(

Borrowed

Rules of Civility by Amor Towles <– Borrowed from Katie (Lives in Heels)!

Gifted

  14. Awesome selection! I have loved the first books of PLL, they were great fun to read! And I get annoyed too when my books don’t match; I wish the publishers took us poor collectors into consideration! Enjoy your new books :)
