[Guest Post] Swoon-Worthy Sundays: Bones’ Seeley Booth

Snowdrop Dreams of BooksSince I am out of town for a few days, Chrystal from Snowdrop Dreams of Books is stopping by with a guest post on her wedding weekend! (yay for scheduled posts!)

Check out who she picked as her Swoon-Worthy Sundays feature……

(Slight spoiler warning, I guess? This guest post discusses the show & characters from the show)

When Michele asked me to guest post on her Swoon-Worthy Sunday feature, I knew exactly who I would pick – Seeley Booth from BONES!

I am a huge fan of the TV series BONES and the Temperance Brennan novels by Kathy Reichs. The only thing is – they each have different male lead characters. The books have Andrew Ryan, a Canadian detective and the TV show has Seeley Booth, an FBI agent. Their personalities couldn’t be more opposite.

Though I am behind on the TV series, BIG TIME (I missed a ton of episodes including the entire last season – so I am Netflixing like a mad woman to go through the series in order and catch up), I am still completely TEAM SEELEY. I mean who wouldn’t fall for his sarcastic sense of humour, his smoking hot looks, his flashy ties and rebellious coloured socks?!? It probably helps that he is portrayed by David Boreanaz (of Buffy and Angel glory)! Bones is a great mix of comedy and drama – either making me laugh out loud or shedding a tear. I’m invested in these characters like you wouldn’t believe.

Each episode always involves some kind of body that Bones/Tempe needs to identify and Booth needs to bring justice for the family. They work well together and their different worlds even start to mesh together – Booth accepts the squints a little more with every case they help solve and Temperance slowly learns how to be a more normal person (she’s kind of too brilliant for her own good and doesn’t communicate well with others). The entire series is based on forensic anthropology and the comedy/drama of the characters every day lives. Such a great combination. I still can’t believe it’s going into it’s 8th season. And I missed so much by not having watched last two seasons and all I can do is sing LALALALA when anyone speaks of the show.

Seeley Booth is a special agent with the FBI and former military sniper. He wears his heart on his sleeve and takes every casualty to heart. He may pretend to be this tough guy on the outside, but deep down he’s a romantic at heart. He carries a heavy burden and is always looking to make amends for the lives he took as a sniper.

Brennan and Booth have always had this chemistry right from the first episode and watching the seasons over again, I am picking up on many more reasons for them to be together. I think Booth was falling in love with Brennan before it was even on her radar. I remember him telling her in one of the first two seasons that she had the looks and a whole lot more. I think even back then he might have wondered what it would be like to fall in love with her. Booth has this jealous streak when she is in relationships and somehow always pushes the guys out of her life. There are so many times when Booth saves Brennan and you can see in their eyes how much they care for one another… it was just a matter of time before they finally decided the longest asked question of BONES – Will they or won’t they? Apparently they finally DID.

Now to catch up on the awesomeness that is BONES, so I can see more of Booth – preferably shirtless.
