Swoon-Worthy Sundays: Glee’s Brody Weston

I finally had a chance to catch up on the past few weeks of Glee and for those that have been watching so far this season, you’ll know why I picked the new hottie on the show as this week’s Swoon-Worthy Sundays feature. Slight spoiler alert I guess but it’s only been 4 episodes and it’s fairly obvious where the writers are heading towards with this hot new schoolmate of Rachel’s.

We were first introduced to Brody Weston when Rachel overhears him singing in the shower of their co-ed bathrooms at NYADA. The foreshadowing on this should have been clear for Glee fans, as that was how Finn was introduced too – singing in the shower. He was immediately someone to keep your eye on, and Rachel was certainly finding herself in his company more and more. To her credit, she does mention her “boyfriend” and “Finn” quite a bit in the first episode, and Brody seems okay with that, not letting it get in the way of being her supportive new friend.

During a rough patch of missing her family & friends and having a hard time with her dance teacher, prince charming Brody comes swooping in to lift Rachel’s spirits and confidence. The chemistry is obviously there,  but Rachel – being the stubborn perfectionist that she is – seems to fight the attraction, hanging onto the hope that she’d hear from Finn.

While I noticed this newcomer from the first episode, it wasn’t until the second episode entitled Britney 2.0 that he became swoon-worthy. A guy who can sing & dance as well? Swoon. When Rachel is disheartened that her dance teacher thinks she’s “not sexy”, Brody insists that she is and agrees to help her with a dance number. That performance of Oops… I Did It Again skyrocketed Brody into major swoon-worthy status.

The third episode is where it gets complicated and after Brody confesses that he likes her, Rachel’s unsure of how to feel about it since – God love that dopey boy – Finn still hasn’t contacted her in 4 months. So, low and behold, in a twist that’s not so twisty and everyone could see from a mile away, the moment that Rachel decides to try and forget about Finn and cook dinner for Brody is the moment that the guy shows up at her doorstep.

While the chemistry is definitely there between Rachel & Brody, and Brody is definitely yummy – his infatuation with Rachel seems really quick and a little over-the-top at times. But maybe that’s just part of the magical theatrical charm of it all, where people can fall in love after a song & dance number on Broadway.

  1. Brody is very yummy!!! Great choice. He is definitely worthy of swoon worthy Sunday!! I honestly like him for Rachel better than Finn. Don’t get me wrong, I totally love Finn, but he is always going to be trying to live up to what he thinks Rachel wants him to be.

  2. Brody is hot, but frankly, I find him a pretty flat character. I don’t know if that’s the character, the actor, or the actor’s inability to hold his American accent through a scene.

That said, he’s a great singer, and I LOVED the “Give Your Heart A Break” duet from Thursday’s episode.

  3. Good choice! I definitely agree!!! I am hating where Glee has gone – except for the Rachel/Brody thing. They should have just done a spin-off – most people would have watched the New York piece anyway.

  4. I have one episode left of Season 3 of Glee, but I’ve been keeping up with the show anyway. From what I’ve seen Brody sounds like a much better match for Rachel than Finn. He gets her drive and her passion for Broadway and performing. And he doesn’t shoot himself in the legs. Brochel all the way!
