Top Ten Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Yay! Fantastic topic.. I love this time of year for all the scary reads, since I love my ghost stories. Speaking of which, I’ve got a contest going on right now.. ends on the 28th. Share a creepy ghost story for your chance to win a scary book! Maybe it’ll be one of these on my list!

  1. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
  2. Ten by Gretchen McNeil
  3. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs | Not even so much as the story is super scary as the pictures! The photographs definitely up the creepy factor
  4. The Woman in Black by Susan Hill
  5. Cell by Stephen King | Not necessarily one of his most famous ones but this book stuck out for me as creepy and gruesome! Great for zombie fans
  6. The Black Isle by Sandi Tan | I’m reading this right now actually and this story set in Asia is pretty ghost-filled and eerie.
  7. The Passage by Justin Cronin
  8. Blindness by Jose Saramago | While I wasn’t a huge fan of this book, it definitely is a creepy mess-with-your-head kind of read. Great for crazy Halloween times.
  9. The Shining by Stephen King | Another Stephen King pick, this time a classic. Book was scary, movie was creepy, TV movie was even scarier – but what makes it creepiest for me is seeing the Ghost Hunters investigation of the Stanley Hotel that inspired King for this book. THAT makes this book even creepier.
  10. Everything’s Eventual: 14 Dark Tales by Stephen King | He’s the master of horror for a reason. This collection of CREEPY short stories includes “1408″, which has been made into a movie starring John Cusack.

And of course, what made your Top 10 list this week? Share your link and I’ll check it out too!

  1. So I’m wondering….on a scale of 1 – 10 how scary is Ten? I have been anxiously waiting to read it but it’s been featured on several lists so far today.

Great list! Stephen King made mine as well.

  2. Lots of Stephen King on your list! I haven’t really read any of his books, but I don’t doubt that they’re perfect for this time of the year. Anna Dressed in Blood was good and I’m reading Ten right now :)
