What better way to kick off my impromptu “Melissa de la Cruz Blue Bloods week” on the blog than to feature the newly released Blue Bloods graphic novel on this week’s Swoon-Worthy Sundays!
Illustrated by Alina Urusov, I absolutely adore this style of drawing. It’s reminiscent of the art in the Fables graphic novel series and her depictions of the characters from this beloved YA series is pretty spot-on.
This full-colour graphic novel is exquisite in detail, from the facial expressions to all the extravagant fashion and even down to the sheer opulence of the scenery. Both a great introduction to the world, or a companion to fans who have already read the novel. Being a fan of this series and of graphic novels, I absolutely swooned over all the gorgeousness within these pages! Another book-turned-graphic-novel that I loved was Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, but I personally wasn’t as much of a fan of that manga-style drawing. Will isn’t manga-form to me, and I wished that graphic novel was done in the style that Blue Bloods is done in.
You can check out the art for yourself on the Blue Bloods website, where you can get a sneak peak of what to expect!
