Those of you who know me & my blog’s Paris Month in April will know how obsessed with macarons I am. (And how one of my biggest pet peeves are the people who confuse macarons and macaroons!) Tying in with Macaron Day in other major cities worldwide like Paris and NYC, Toronto is participating as well when participating patisseries in the Toronto area will be offering complimentary macarons to customers (while quantities last).
What’s better than enjoying a free macaron and tasting the delicious almond meringue treat? 25% of any additional sales of macarons today (because, really, I can’t have just the one!), will go to the Red Door Family Shelter – a fantastic charity that provides emergency housing for those seeking safe shelter from domestic violence.
It’s a (selfishly-motivated) shame that this Macaron Day isn’t happening a few weeks later when it IS April to tie in with Paris Month, but nonetheless, I am extremely excited to check it out – and for a great cause! Tiffanie (Mostly YA Lit) and I are going to meet up after work and hopefully not have all the places we go already be out of them. I also love the large number of friends that have pointed out this day to me, knowing my obsession with macarons. You all know me so well… 🙂
