On a rainy Thursday in June, The Dominion on Queen Street East in Toronto was abuzz & jivin’ with the 50’s-themed book launch party of Adrienne Kress’ latest novel Outcast. Wendy and I showed up right after work to get some dinner first so when Adrienne spotted us there early, she excitedly had us run after her into the back room to show us the “rec room” for the evening, which had all the fun stuff of the 50’s, like an old motorbike, hoola hoops, yoyos and more!
Christa, Angel and Jenn soon joined us, also spotting Lesley Livingston and Maureen McGowan in the crowd as well. Adrienne, looking gorgeous in her red gown and long black gloves soon took to the stage after Lesley (aka Trixie Tuscadero)’s hilarious intro. Adrienne spoke a bit about the process of publishing this novel and thanking her parents for all the help before reading from the first chapter of Outcast.
We then lined up to get our books signed, to which Adrienne so kindly thanked us for always coming out to these events. It was so sweet, but really, we gotta support our local talent / book friends! Of course we’d come! After we got our books signed, we headed to the back room for some fun photo-ops with the bike and some cake before heading home.
Thanks Adrienne, and The Dominion, for a fun 50’s evening!
