After hearing many friends rave about this series, I decided to finally binge-watch it on Netflix over the holidays. Rather than write up my thoughts on every episode, I figured I’d do some tweet-like one-liners to sum up each episode as I’m going through them, hence potentially starting a new feature on the blog for the new year… “One-Liners”! Consider yourself SPOILER WARNED though.
How have I not watched this show until now?! Ghost stories, urban legends and myths.. it’s like Hardy Boys meets X-Files. Love it.
Hey! Cory Monteith is in this as the guy in the tent!
3. Dead in the Water
And…. this does not make me want to learn any quicker how to swim.
4. Phantom Traveler
Frightening idea! …and a possible supernatural alternate origin story for Lost? 😉
5. Bloody Mary
Ugh. This urban legend ghost story has always creeped me out.
Disturbing imagery of shape shifting…
7. Hook Man
Heh.. why does it always seem like Sam tries to kill the baddie but it ends up Dean rushes in at the last second to finish the task…
Creepy with all the bugs but how is the swarm coming at midnight and moments later it’s already daybreak?? 6-7 hours had passed already!?
Ohmygod. One of the more horrifying episodes so far. That kitchen sink scene? BARF. I thought Jenny looked familiar… she was on Lost! and holy crap! The ending!
Ah, asylums.. a seemingly standard setting to creepiness. This episode was definitely scarier than the YA book I read a few months ago and less twisted than the 2nd season of American Horror Story.
A baddie with a hook? Again?? Although, cameo by X-Files‘ Cigarette Smoking Man as a professor! And uh.. crazy hitchhiking girl?? WTF!!
Pleasantly surprised the episode isn’t just based on one’s religious faith but faith healers specifically. Much more interesting, and different. and hey! It’s Rita from Dexter!
13. Route 666
Sexy shirtless Dean… crazy road rage… racism.. and that’s about all I remember about this episode. And I’m watching it as I write this.
Ooh a story arc-progressing episode. And pretty darn gruesome imagery at times!
15. The Benders
Reminded me a lot of The X-Files episode “Home”.
The girl at the beginning of this episode looks like a cross between a young Idina Menzel and Anna Paquin. This hitch-hiking Meg girl is just total bad news bears… but awesomely creepy episode.
17. Hell House
I love that even amidst the ghost hunting they still have time to prank each other. Awesome. Love the idea of things existing just because ppl believe the legend. Really enjoyed the Sam/Dean dynamic in this episode.
18. Something Wicked This Way Comes
“I want Lucky Charms.” “We don’t have any left.” “I saw the box.” .. the box is sitting right there on the counter in plain sight. I do love the flashbacks to young Sam and Dean though! .. haha did he just say Ogdenville, North Haverbrook? #Simpsons #monorail
CREEPY painting. I’ve always thought portraits can be totally freaky. This episode solidified that. And how could they have gone through all that and he still not kiss her at that moment?? Oh. Because he wants to make it a big deal at the end. Super cute though – hoping Sarah’s in future episodes.
20. Dead Man’s Blood
Why are Sam and his dad so angry at each other again? I thought they cleared the air in a previous episode??
OMG it just occurred to me why the dad looks so famililar… It’s Denny from Grey’s Anatomy! Yeahhhh “see ya later” before going to do something dangerous is never a good sign. TO BE CONTINUED!?!?! … oh right. I’m binge-watching this on Netflix.
22. Devil’s Trap
KEEP READING THE EXORCIST BOOK, SAM!! Jeez. and WTF weird friend?? “Don’t hurt her. She’s possessed. … but don’t let the demon out because she fell from a building and she’ll die.” Make up your mind!! Awesome finale episode. So many twists. Technically, why wouldn’t the black smoke demon (Lost??) stay inside the father, or one of them thereby forcing them to kill each other. Oh right, then there wouldn’t be much of a show. Obviously the brothers at least survived the car accident since there are 8 more seasons (and counting!)
Honestly, have no idea why I waited this long to watch this show since I love shows like Ghost Hunters and enjoy ghost stories. I’m so hooked that even with Supernatural currently in its 9th season, I’m not finding the catch-up daunting but more excited that I still have so much Dean and Sammy to watch!
