Angela is being interrogated by Detective Novak after her ex’s wife goes missing. Novak is convinced Angela knows something despite her insistence she is not involved. As she paints Novak the full picture, going back a decade, she tells him how she fell in love with HP, her best friend in high school. The more Angela shares, the more history is revealed including love triangles and betrayals.
This was a really interesting story that unfolded. Using the interrogation as a storytelling method, Angela tells Novak – and the readers – a full backstory of her and HP. At times, it may seem like she’s going off on a tangent but it all comes together in the end. Our Little Secret is twisty and twisted, a story that reveals its suspenseful layers through the eyes of someone whose association with this case is called into question.
The author does a great job at having the reader connect with the characters. I really felt for HP and Angela individually in each of their particular circumstances. At just under 230 pages, I devoured this book in the better part of a day. My curiosity was piqued to see where this story was headed and I could not put it down. There were definitely a few scenes that provided some satisfyingly shocking moments. Our Little Secret is great for those who like a good mystery thriller and a relatively quick read where things get resolved at the end.
