2017 marks Canada’s sesquicentennial – 150 years young – and the country is embracing its patriotism in full force all throughout the year. Countless brands have come out with product(s) to commemorate this milestone birthday and I thought I would highlight some of the ones that caught my eye. I also teamed up with Indigo for a special Canada Day birthday present for one lucky winner, so keep reading to find out how you can enter to win!

As the world’s first cultural department store for book lovers, Indigo is proudly Canadian and has outdone themselves with all the Canadiana merchandise for this season. It was truly challenging to narrow down what I loved most from this collection. What I picked doesn’t even include all the stationery, art prints and cushion covers that I kept gravitating towards.
The World Needs More Canada
Created exclusively for Indigo, The World Needs More Canada is full of insights and anecdotes from over 100 Canadian culture-makers on what being Canadian means to them, with gorgeous photography throughout, including contributions from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Drake, Chris Hadfield, Margaret Atwood, Celine Dion, and more. And, boy, do we embrace this sentiment more than ever lately!
Indigo Scents Canada Collection Scented Candles
Featuring iconic Canadian locales and familiar scents, these candles are perfect for the home or cottage. My favourite would have to be the Heritage Blend which smells like delicious maple syrup!
Neon Canada 150 Table Lamp
I am OBSESSED with this lamp. I love the other neon lamps that Indigo carries but this one… it’s so perfect. It’s a tad on the higher price point side, so I’m currently trying to convince myself just how much I need this.
The World Needs More Canada Box Set
Want to read more Canadian literature but not sure where to start? This handy box set is the perfect item to get you started!
Selected by the staff at Indigo, this box set includes: L. M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, Alice Munro’s Lives of Girls and Women, Thomas King’s The Inconvenient Indian, Mordecai Richler’s Barney’s Version, and Joseph Boyden’s The Orenda.
Roots’ Nice Enamel Pin
Roots’ “nice” campaign includes a number of clothing items but my fave has to be the enamel pin – one to wear, and one to share! How very nice!
100% of the profits from your button or pin purchase will support Indigenous Youth Empowerment programming run by WE, focused on empowering Indigenous youth to be leaders in their communities.
Mac Cosmetics’s Proud to be Canadian collection
Celebrating their Canadian heritage, Mac Cosmetics (sister brand to where I work) has introduced a collection commemorating the 150th birthday with a specially packaged red lipstick “Proud to be Canadian” and flag-inspired makeup bag and tote!

Squish Candies’ Eh Canada gummies
Montreal-based Squish Candies has created these delicious maple-flavourited gummies. Eh Canada is fat free, and does not contain any artificial flavours or colours! Buy the gummies here!
What better way to celebrate our country’s 150th birthday than to win a Canada prize pack!
